I can't quite compose this morning's excitement. Having been nominated for three awards in The Fragrance Foundation Jasmine Awards 2013, this morning at BAFTA, Piccadilly, London, Neil Chapman for his article Perfume Haters, won the Literary Award!
The judging panel, made up of industry expert Joanna Norman, Chairman of the Judging panel, Author Elizabeth Buchan, Director of Beauty at House of Fraser Ruth Newman, Broadcaster Natasha Kaplinsky, Swimwear & Lifestyle Designer Melissa Odabash and Author S.J. Watson thought Neil's article "completely fulfilled the literary aspect and was beautifully written". Of course, I couldn't agree more.
Neil's article highlighted the extent to which people, societies and even governments will go to ban and outlaw perfume and other scented products. It showed that in this hate there is love for perfume. Please do pop over to his blog The Black Narcissus for more of this fantastic, award winning writer.
There was some lovely words of praise given to ODOU too; for a debut niche publication to be nominated three times and to win an award, for the magazine's style, content and originality. It's made this man one happy-chappy today and only spurs on issue two which will be available at the end of the month.
Well done to all nominees and winners, including fellow fragrance blogger, Thomas Dunckley (AKA The Candy Perfume Boy) for winning the Best Digital Article on Fragrance for his article The Candy Perfume Boy’s Guide to Violet.
Thank you once again to everyone involved helping ODOU off the ground to this moment today be it the smallest tweet, article writing or contribution. Here's to many more issues and hats off to Neil!
